This seems ok to me, as this won't impoose it to systems which don't need it. However, before seeding this these need to be MIRed to restricted. I wouldn't want us to dump this on users without us maintaining it, as an unmaintained microcode patch is potentially even more harmful than none at all?

Also, what about amd64-microcode?

Yes, MIR to restricted is needed for intel-microcode.

I'm not in the position to sponsor, or vouch for amd64-microcode seeding into restricted.
(E.g. I can commit for intel-microcode maintenance and bug escalation)
