When developing a software that is not part of the Ubuntu repository, one would like to benefit from Apport and recieve crash reports. I have created the following question : "https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/apport/+question/39016"
It has not been answered, so I had a look to the code and added the functionality.

Apport will report the bug to "launchpad/<SourcePackage>/+filebug" if an Env Vars APPORT_REPORT_NON_UBUNTU_PACKAGES is set. Otherwise the old behaviour is set.

I also added the support of third parties crash databases. It's documented.
