The good news is that in my copy of "Working Draft, Standard for
Programming Language C++" of 2008-10-04, the "T is assignable" condition
is dropped, and in 23.1.4(5) has "Keys in an associative container
are immutable."

The speed spin button on the main screen now changes and is in synch
with the value in preferences. (First part of #575730)
Note that libglade does a s/-/_/ on names, so it doesn't actually matter
whether we call the signal value-changed or value_changed.

Take care of possible division by zero all along vertical line rather than
just when the effective mouse position is on the cross hairs. I changed
many variable names in Get_new_root_coords to be the same as the more
understandable to me names in ScheduleZoom. Those two functions are so
similar that there must be a way of combining them...
