No need to copy the desktop file originally. The writing the file out will take care of it.
Rename the local ubuntu-software-center dekstop file as not to confuse a Unity 7 session.

Prepend "unity8" to the name of the local desktop file to separate it from other local desktop files.
Include a "NotShowIn=Unity" for the Unity 8 desktop file so it doesn't show up in a Unity7 session.
