Merge lp:~ramana/gcc-linaro/fix-autoconfissues-47 into lp:gcc-linaro/4.7

I'd like to see how this patch tests on a variety of architectures and just to make sure all this works fine in reality before going upstream with it.

Basic testing done with a bootstrap on x86_64 proceeding past stage1 .

This is attempting to fix a problem with the generation of @gnu_unique_object directives by the C++ compiler.
