Merge lp:~ramana/gcc-linaro/47-lower-subreg-experiment-regtest into lp:gcc-linaro/4.7

Looking at backporting the change for lower-subreg and one of RichardS's original patches to fix a performance issue with intrinsics.

Could I also get some testing and benchmarking numbers for this please ?
