to test out CoordinateMap, I implemented some MatrixGroups (i.e. considering CoordinateMap's with linear transformations as
elements of a group) and played around with the idea of CoordinateMap being a mapping from a set of named copies of
numbers to another set of named copies...

in ~jonathan.taylor/nipy/trunk-dev, the CoordinateMap typecasts to the CoordinateSystem's dtypes (maybe we don't want this),
but it allows us to remove the typecast calls within the different curvilinear calls
