Restore test modules alphabetical order.

Fix some interdipendencies among test modules by improving the cleaning
up after tests. The branch name is a misnomer, from the first hypothesis
that tried to explain the incorrect behavior: it revealed itself as a
red herring.

More cleanup will be performed in future branches.
