Description of the change

Hi Johan, Pierre,

This is the fix for the diagram drawing fully supporting now the format of the diagram
created after the output command (this is still compatible with the format present before).

This works fine but I have one question for Johan.
For fixing the fermion flow (at least in the SM) I tried to use the position of the particles
in the vertex (since this is IOIO, I know which particles is Incoming and which one is outcoming)
but it seems that this technique didn't work (even for the SM!). Since my last fix didn't require this step, I have remove it. But I would like to know why some vertex didn't follow the interactions order. I was thinking that the difference of format before/after output was mainly that (for non decay chain).

Hello Olivier,

Of course all calls follow the IOIO order in the wavefunction call - this is necessary to get the right result (but only when you have two fermion mothers obviously). Could you give me an example of where it fails?

Another comment: For the identity of the particle (which was the problem in this case), you don't need the I/O nature but only whether it is s or t channel. t-channels should always be represented as the particle (since the identity depends on which direction you read the diagram), while s-channels should be the correct outgoing particle/antiparticle identity.

Yeah exactly. In fact, I did it in a slightly opposite way.
1) We don't care about T-channel (up to the fermion which is check at the end)
2) Consider that this is always S-channel.

The problem for the S-channel is that we need to know if the particles is created from the initial state or from the final state. Since the format is change (the order of particles is not the same) It was failing to recognize that information.

Concerning the IO point, I don't think I cover properly the case when one of the two was the 'created' particles. In any case, I don't think that this give the information to draw correctly the fermion flow in presence of majorana.

This should be given immediately from the leg number (<= #initial means it's created from initial, otherwise from final). I don't see how the order can affect this...

I was using the fact that the first and the last number of the vertex
are equal to one. which is also straightforward but order dependent.

Why would you care about the first number? Only the last leg number is relevant, once you know that it is an s-channel.

You know that it is an s-channel if either the number is > ninitial, or all ninitial numbers are represented among the mothers (i.e., 1 if ninitial=1 and 1 and 2 if ninitial=2). Otherwise it's a t-channel and should be printed as the particle (from absolute value of the PDG code), but with the correct direction of the arrow of course.

I have never cared much about getting the fermion flow right in the diagram drawing - to me it's clearer if the arrows are according to the particle identities. It might get quite confusing if you have the arrow for a particle pointing in the opposite direction. Usually, arrows in Feynman diagrams don't represent fermion flow but particle/antiparticle). So I'm not sure if it makes sense to care about fermion flow here, rather than stick to particle/antiparticle identity.

Since they were a clear format at the time I made that code, I don't
see why not using it. (A double check is alway better than a single
one).
This also prevent any trouble with the last vertex. The output format
for that last vertex was very process dependent, so I preferred
to fully veto that one.

To my point of view this method is also more efficient than the one
you propose:
1) it's a single (that I double it by security) if (compare the a
sequence of if)
2) It doesn't require anything than a single vertex (no need to know
the number of initial particle/the mother)

As a matter of fact, I compute the initial information after having
defining the full diagram in the drawing format, so after have made
those flipping.
What I mean "Computation of the initial information" is the list of
DrawingLine in the intial state.
Since those lines are not (all created) at the time of those flipping,
I cann't be sure of the number of initial particles.
(or I need to have an additional loop in order to know how many
particles are in the initial state which is again not fully efficient,
since I'll redo the job after)
Off course, we can refactor the code, in order to make those flipping
after the full loading of the diagram. In that case, your method will
probably be more natural.

I'm pretty sure that both technique are quite equivalent and that we
discuss on very stupid details here. They are much more important
things to discuss/to do
than how and why I used a method to determine if a need to flip the
particle/anti-particle identity (especially since we agree that both
method are correct and that both method
are extremely fast compare to all the other step). The only point
which might be important is to discuss about the choice for the T-
channel.

Concerning the T-channel, if you want to always have it positive, the
best way to do it, is when I check the fermion flow for the T-channel
particles.
This is a quite natural position to flip the identity of those
particles. But I would say that the perfect way to represent those is
not always to take the particle.
but rather by choosing a direction for the full-T channel and make the
particle/anti-particle according to this choice.
(To be more clear, do like the T channel was not perfectly vertical
but with a constant slope for the determination of particle/anti-
particle)
  If we want to do that (I would say no) the position is again the T
channel fermion flow checking loop. But as you say, this doesn't have
any physical

Sure. Sorry, I was just trying to help by explaining how I am doing it in the config.inc output. But I'll be happy to leave it all to you.

Once again, I was inferring from what I do in configs.inc, and what I figured would be the simplest solution. But you are obviously free to do whatever you prefer, as long as it makes sense globally (and all s-channel particles have the right identities).

I have found (another) minor bug (in pdf reweighting when using LHAPDF), that I will fix in this branch.
