Get rid of gnome-common build dependency (#231)

"gnome-common" is deprecated. Replace the autogen.sh script by the
template suggested at the gnome-common migration page [1], adding
the mentioned aclocal line.

Fix hidpi rendering of session badges, message indicator.

Most of the more common desktops provide a scalable icon, so they
can be rendered in hidpi.

Just use a theme icon for the message indicator.
