fixes 86 : Initialised mirror knm struct to null, had to move the name definition in mirror to stop initilisation warnings coming up. Also the strcspn check for the .kmn filename extension wasn't working, no idea why, using strstr now.

removed cygpath calls as they are no longer needed, leaving them in though incase they are useful in the future.

After alot of mucking around I Gnuplot seems to be working fine. The problem was tricky to find but it essentially came down to the fact that the cygwin1.dll system() and popen() commands reequire the sh shell to be present, but present in the /bin/ folder, which on Windows doesn't exist unless you have the full Cygwin installed, which we want to avoid for users having to do. A new set of functions are now present that emulate the system and popen functionality which instead call cmd on the Windows version.

update another gnuplot command call with new get_path_i command

Added new get_path_io command which returns a corrected path depending on the OS. For everything but cygwin the same path is returned for now, but on cygwin the cygpath command is used to correctly format the path into a unix styled one. Added for gnuplot but im sure there are other places this is needed

Changed build info to use the git describe command, this includes any tag and not just the revision number
