This branch fixes a problem with determining whether a file is readable on some remote filesystem by looking at file permissions if the ACCESS_CAN_READ atribute is missing. If the read permission still cannot be determined it is now assumed to be "true" so that any failure to read the file can be dealt with elsewhere.
