Fixes Bug #552420. Because the copied-to table in ALTER TABLE is temporary, mysql_lock_tables() is not called, and the automatic StorageEngine:
:startStatement () is also not called. So, we call it manually to ensure transactional engines have a notification of a new statement/ transaction.
