This branch may be out of date, because Launchpad has not been able to access it since .

B and WT had different locking orders, and didn't always cleanup when the lock failed.
Now both of them lock deep before shallow (B locks R then B, WT locks B then WT), and will always cleanup their locks if they fail while locking or unlocking.
