Ambiance, Radiance: implement ambiance-rw inspired darker placessidebar

Imported https://www.gnome-look.org/p/1197991/ and reimplemented
to be easier to maintain, limiting gradients usage and adding
implementation for RTL directions and backdrop.
Also, support it for Radiance too.

Remove an old workaround which would force combobox menu text
to be dark. Starting in r583 the combobox menu background also
changed to dark, so forcing the text to dark made it almost the
