Remove workarounds for bad snap output.

Workarounds for bugs 1588322, 1622782, and 1677557
required capturing output from the snap command and searching
it for substrings. This is no longer required as those bugs are
fixed. Bug 1819231 was triggered by the use of these workarounds,
which prompted their removal.
