In Ubuntu we normally try to get bugs fixed upstream first. This gains us the ability to just take the upstream changes as they are without having to maintain a delta.

It appears that the typo you're referring to is fixed at http://anarchism.pageabode.com/afaq/secH2.html already and that importing it into Debian and then sync it from there would be good. Maybe you could follow up on https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=773529 as well?
