are you sure seeding the autopilot package on a desktop does not pull in any harmful system changes via dependency packages (i know on the phone the autopilot-touch package mangles a bunch of device permissions insecurely) ?

beyond that it looks fine to me ...

Installing autopilot-desktop on a clean 14.04 brings these packages: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/7792430/

These new packages should not break and in fact they are required to run tests, generate pot files and access to code.

You need to make a merge proposal into https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/ubuntu-seeds/ubuntu-touch.utopic first. After that, the files in ubuntu-touch-meta are automatically maintained and not normally handled by way of merge proposals; there's a script that core developers can use to refresh the package against the seeds.
