Make a few functions static, that were not used anywhere
outside of these source files. And I couldn't even find a
*.h entry for them.

If you need them outside, don't hesitate to remove the
static again and add a nice entry to some *.h.

Replace
 #define NEED_LOG_H
by
 #include "log.h"
This is mostly the same and IMHO more readable.

Also added some more includes, so we can once remove some
from fte.h, so the files will only include, what they
really need (will help with dependency tracking, etc.)

(I have more in a special tree, and I'm slowly commiting
parts of this, so not to commit a really big thing...)

Add/Fix the usual #ifndef xxx, #define xxx, ..., #endif in
the headers.

g++ 2.7.0 already has bool, so check for that and define
HAVE_BOOL there.
This helps me compile fte on a weird box.
I hope, I got the #if right.
