protoparse.py: Code cleanup, attempting to adhere more to PEP 8.

lxprotoparse.py renamed to protoparse.py to be a little easier to remember.
Wrote up filtering and message merging scenarios in README.txt.
While introducing filtering, refactored some parsing code so conditionals
would cover common cases more often.
