Yes, making a separate branch would be better. Do you want to work on this? The files were sphinx build is complaining about are :

src/scripting/lua_maps.cc
src/scripting/lua_globals.cc

If you want me to work on this i would just replace the new RST comments with the old ones. I would leave the lines longer than 100 chars to have a test scenario for clang-format. You could then test and provide the config file for clang with the new created branch.
