Freshly installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my laptop (Vaio VPCEB2S1E/W with new SSD and 8GB RAM) and I have the same issues.
Dash is damn slow! Unity (desktop switching, animations, zooming in and out, etc.) has no noticeable lag though.
