Thank Envel for reporting you findings and the link to the other bug report.

While researching this problem I came across the following Intel Linux Graphics documentation:

My thoughts are that this problem must be solvable, or else why would Intel call this Graphics Processing Unit "High Definition Graphics 3000". ;-)

I also recall reading somewhere that the problem did not arise in MS Windows.
Can someone with MS Windows test to see if there is video tearing while viewing HD video in Windows?
