this seems to be a BIOS problem to me.
several flags in ACPI namespace (DID1, DID2, DID3, DID4, DID5) are all cleared in this DSDT, but AML code sends the ACPI notifications to DD03 device only if DID3 is set. that's why the ACPI video driver doesn't change the backlight when hotkey is pressed.
I don't know how to fix this problem because Linux/ACPI are not aware of these flags.
Maybe changing some BIOS options may change the DID3 flag?
