The workaround works nicely to ensure that the touchpad always functions, but it seems to result in the touchpad being reset so that, for example, gestures don't emulate mouse clicks, even though I have them set to; I have to unset and reset the preference in System Settings to recover the functionality.

Is there some way to reapply settings on resume to fix this?
