@Andrew Tonks: Until David tells us the details, I can recommend xpdf_3.02-12ubuntu2nopoppler0_i386.deb for x32 which is an older version which works for me. I guess it is easy to find. With dpkg -i xpdf_3.02-12ubuntu2nopoppler0_i386.deb it should be installable.
