That's the bug which *should* have been fixed by the xserver patches. They certainly fix at least one problem which caused that behaviour; there may be other bugs I didn't pick up.

The gnome-session bug is where the +ve transition fires at idle_counter=60000 and in the same tick some input events are generated, so idle_counter never goes above 60000 and the -ve transition (correctly) is never triggered.
