This I agree. I made the proposal, not because it's a short cut to
solve the issue at hand, but because I think the current definition of
-ve trigger is questionable. The fact that the proposal happened to
solve this current issue is a bonus.

Don't we do this all the time ;-), in open source world. I still have
hard time with gthumb 2.11.x, which is a complete rewrite from 2.10.x.
Many of the old functionalities are still missing.
