    verify a pointer is not NULL before dereferencing it. Fixes X
    segfault in miCopyRegion which occurs while using firefox (e.g. typing
    into fields in AOL). Issue found by Jerry Lamos.

    from Debian to fix X segfault on mouse click in xfig, when pixmaps
    are created in the course of software fallbacks.
