I'm trying to figure out where this file gets generated from....

~/.vnc/xstartup

It does not invoke gnome.
The file instructs that for a normal desktop two lines should be commented out.

I tried doing that... still no gnome-session.
I tried adding
  gnome-session
at the end, but no joy.
