Just got Beta 1 and installed the updated fglrx driver. (It was not installed already). The Unity shell resembled a number of 'black squares' jumbled up on the screen. While Unity/Compiz were running other applications flashed as well. However, when I ran sudo killall compiz, all the other apps that were open stopped flashing.

Additionally, when using the standard Gnome 2.x desktop, there is no flashing whatsoever despite the fact that compiz is running.
