Looking at the UNE .menu file it seems to me that it would be quite tricky to create the Unity .menu file via simple Merge directives based on the standard Gnome one. It rather redefines some of the groupings making this quite tricky. So instead I tried porting the UNE .menu override by hardwiring it into unity-place-applications.menu
