Excuse me for my English, Martin. I'll tell you what I've done.
I use Ubuntu Lucid. I've updated udev, libudev0 and libgudev-1.0-0
packages from your ppa.
Then I've inserted DVD+RW with an information recorded on it.
Then I typed in terminal the command 'sudo /lib/udev/cdrom_id --debug
/dev/sr0' and there is what I've got.

d@d-l:~$ sudo /lib/udev/cdrom_id --debug /dev/sr0

Then I've started Brasero and have chosen Fast Erase. (I don't know how it
is written in English, I use Russian localization.)
Brasero blanked my disk, opened the tray and showed a message that process
have been finished and it was all right.
Then I've inserted blanked DVD+RW. Message: "You've inserted blank disk,
choose the application, bla-bla-bla"
At that moment terminal once again.

Well, I can say: great job, Martin! Your fix seems to work like a charm -
at least for me, as I have tested.
Now I can use Brasero again, can blank my disks and burn, blank and burn :)
Thank you!
