Christopher: Apologies, I am a newbie, so lots of rules to learn. Followed your instruction, unfortunately the system said firefox opened too many widows, must close one... something like that, and then no more action. I will get to the point how to post a bug in the future.
Problem Resolved
Confirmed that Unbuntu 10.04 LTS / 10.10 /Linux Mint 12 do not support SONY WebCam VCG-VCC1. So you MUST disable it before installation, otherwise the installation will not carry on.
Procedures to resolve the issue: (to disable the device: Procedure provided by Denial Van)
0. Boot into a live session
1. Open a terminal
2. sudo -s
3. lsmod and look for the camera driver (mine was gspca_vc032x)
4. rmmod gspca_vc032x
5. Add a blacklist file for gspca_vc032x to /etc/modprobe.d/
6. Start the installation
Woola, this is my first time install a Linux system with success!!! Tears!!!
