The older map was quite huge for some folks, so why not give it two or even three levels of zooming by clicking? I have to stick to my opinion that the moving background is still giving a lot of people a hard time. The aesthetic value is probably 0. The only thing that I can think of it being useful, is in the case of accessibility.
