I confirm this bug. This happens also to me using a fresh install of ubuntu 7.10 final from the i386 desktop cd
I use a CRT screen (15 inchs) on an old nvdia RIVA TNT2 video card (open drivers). I haven't checked usplash.conf yet, i'll do it as soon as possible.

I also noticed that the sceen seems like non receiving a true video signal during the boot splashscreen since it's lights bink strangely. (sorry but i havent got the manual XD)

Hope this will be fixed soon :)
