Intel Celeron 1.7GHz, Intel 845GL northbridge, Intel 82801DB southbridge, Intel integrated 82845G GPU, generic 22" widescreen monitor.
No USplash.
I used "Start-up manager" to fix the problem. It was set at 1400x1050 so I changed the splash to 640x480. It also added the line "vga=791" and that may have helped.
