I confirm this bug. Same for me in Jaunty alpha 3

$ transmission

transmission: bencode.c:670: tr_bencDictAdd: Assertion `tr_bencIsType( ( dict ), TYPE_DICT )' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

This bug makes the application unusable and prevent runs.

$ transmission --version
Transmission 1.42 (7495)
