To eliminate CIFS mounts you only have to do this:

cd /etc/rc6.d
ls -la

Type:
sudo mv S31umountnfs.sh S14umountnfs.sh

then cd to rc6.0

type the same line as before.

That should fix the problem.

That 2 steps is the ONLY thing you have to do after installing ubuntu.
