I think the common practice is to use the system one:

emilio@saturno:/usr/bin$ grep -E "\#\! ?/usr/bin/env perl" * | wc -l
12
emilio@saturno:/usr/bin$ grep -E "\#\! ?/usr/bin/perl" * | wc -l
350
emilio@saturno:/usr/bin$
