Updates:
- (hopefully) fixed the replacement logic
- adapted d/rules to the new logic
- added all the special handling of remove/purge mentioned above
- fixup of some minor issues and adding comments

-> New build qemu_4.2-3ubuntu2~ppa4 in PPA (just started to build)
-> force pushed both branches that I referenced with the new content
