Fair points and questions.

I don't have time to work on this now. I got as far as putting together a tarball that I think is about right (based entirely on Wes's prior work), which is still on my people page (http://people.mozilla.org/~dmandelin/js187-1.0.0.tar.gz). I can't see myself setting aside the time to put together great release notes like Wes has.

We are indeed these days tightly focused on building the best SpiderMonkey specifically for Firefox products. I do wonder if we can put together a lightweight process that would allow us to put out some kind of usable source release periodically. I'll post to the list.
