This bug was fixed in the package livecd-rootfs - 2.748

  * live-build/ubuntu-cpc/hooks.d/base/ovf/ubuntu-ova-v1-vmdk.tmpl: do not
    automatically allocate serial0 as it causes a hang when upgrading.
