And about the icon problem, when you press mic mute hotkey, the osd shows the speaker icon instead of microphone icon, i think this is a bug for unity-settings-daemon, and the patch in the comment #7 can fix it.

Please open a unity-settings-daemon bug to track this problem and involve the desktop development team in.
