I also experience this behaviour on mainline/v3.6-rc3-quantal.

Recovery mode -> asus-wmi works
normal boot -> oops

Furthermore, the iwlwifi module seems to crash on that kernel, but I should probably see what ubuntu's kernel does when its gets to 3.6
