I get similar results with wext except that I think it's actually not associating when that driver is used.

Kernel is 2.6.17-6-386 (Edgy). The module says it's 0.4.4-kernel.

I had updated the card to the latest firmware a long while back but I don't recall how to ask the card what firmware version that is.
