you seem to be correct.

First time I saw that issue was in a kmod regression test iirc.

The fix was supposed to be in:

initramfs-tools (0.133ubuntu15) focal; urgency=medium

from:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1863261

but I see now that might not cover all cases.

I'll revisit this today.
