Yup - still a bug - exactly as the OP describes. Continues to be a problem on 11.04/Natty for System Monitor 2.28.2 and searchmonkey 0.8.1

If System monitor is running, it exits if searchmonkey is started.

If searchmonkey is running, System Monitor starts and immediately exits.
