I would agree there. I had tried setting up a hal configuration for the keys but it didn't do anything (but that may just be a factor of my relative inexperience with hal). Anyway, I've been focusing today on the acpi angle; I notice we're considerably diverged from Debian in acpi-support so I'm looking into that.
