some more research done:

according to http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos/BNvjXx1hl60

the correct video url's are:

rtsp://v7.cache6.c.youtube.com/CiILENy73wIaGQmtl2EdX-PbBBMYDSANFEgGUgZ2aWRlb3MM/0/0/0/video.3gp
rtsp://v8.cache8.c.youtube.com/CiILENy73wIaGQmtl2EdX-PbBBMYESARFEgGUgZ2aWRlb3MM/0/0/0/video.3gp

which both play without any problems in totem so it's neither gstreamer, ffmpeg or totem(base) but totem-plugins which does not use the youtube/gdata api correctly
